Towards Demand Planning
as a professional
business function.

Henkel Adhesives Technologies
Henkel holds globally leading market positions both in the consumer and industrial sector and is well known for brands such as Persil, Schwarzkopf and Loctite. The company is headquartered in Düsseldorf, Germany, and proud of its almost 50,000 employees from more than 120 nations. Henkel Adhesive Technologies is the world’s leading solution provider for adhesives, sealants and functional coatings.

Demand Planning is an essential link in Henkel’s value chain as it influences not only inventory levels but customer service as well. Henkel recognises the need to enable its people to perform as professional demand planners.

As part of the Henkel Campus a learning path for Demand Planning is developed. One element on this learning path is the eLearning course Demand Planning which precedes the classroom training. Participants can follow this eLearning course any time they like, at work or at home, using the Henkel Learning platform.

The eLearning course Demand Planning starts with a short questionnaire. The outcome of this questionnaire is an advice which eLearning modules can best be followed by the participant. The eLearning course contains a blend of hard skills and soft skills modules.  The soft skills modules focus on communication. Active listening, communication across cultures and argumentation are some of the topics here. In the hard skills modules differences in forecasting methods and the most commonly used formulas are explained. Theory is explained in small videos after which the participant is invited to make some interactive exercises.

By preceding the classroom training with an eLearning course,  less time during the classroom training is spent on theory and hence more time can be used for putting the theory into practice.
